Have You Forgotten

Ten years ago, I was at seminary when one of the guys came in talking about explosions and planes. I thought he was telling about some video game. Then I had auto shop first period and the teacher talked about life and things that matter. I was super confused why we were having some serious conversation. It continued in second and third period, but it wasn't until fourth period when I got to watch the news. I was glued to the TV watching the second plane crash into the second building and then the buildings collapsing.
My brother, Spencer, was in the MTC preparing to serve a mission in New York City. It all seemed surreal like some sort of nightmare. One other random thing I remember was when I was glued to the TV, I noticed that my history teacher looked at me very concerned maybe because I looked so horrified as I watched America be attacked.

I am so grateful that I have a testimony of the Gospel that provides peace and comfort and hope. It is sometimes a scary and crazy world, but I know I can turn to my Savior and Redeemer. President Monson's said it best in his article.

Our Father’s commitment to us, His children, is unwavering. Indeed He softens the winters of our lives, but He also brightens our summers. Whether it is the best of times or the worst, He is with us. He has promised us that this will never change....
If there is a spiritual lesson to be learned from our experience of that fateful day, it may be that we owe to God the same faithfulness that He gives to us. We should strive for steadiness, and for a commitment to God that does not ebb and flow with the years or the crises of our lives. It should not require tragedy for us to remember Him, and we should not be compelled to humility before giving Him our faith and trust. We too should be with Him in every season.

White Water Rafting

What better way to spend a hot Saturday then raft the Deschutes River?! This morning, we left at 7am and drove about 2.5 hours to the river. We picked up the raft, rode the bus to the river, and got out on the water by 10:30am. The river was fast and had fun rapids! We hit some big ones and then around lunch stopped at the White River, which had awesome rock slides. It killed my foot and knee when I got smashed against a rock, but it was so much fun. Then we got out of the raft and rode the elevator rapids! It was so much fun to be in the water especially on such a hot day!
With the wonderful sunny weather this last week, Oregon has stolen a part of my heart, but I fear it might break my heart soon.

No Labor Day

I like to call Labor Day "No Labor Day" since it is a holiday and no work! So I floated the Clackamas River to celebrate. It was so lovely to be in the sun all day. The river was very cold, but when has that every stopped me.

GAME WEEK

BYU Football makes the ending of summer a little easier so this week I had lots of game week preparations. First, I wore blue every day this week.
Then since we were playing Ole Miss, I thought it was appropriate to watch The Blind Side. I just love that movie so much!

I made True Blue cookies.
Watched my favorite BYU videos. PS I am so excited to have Bronco back in my life. He makes me want to be a better person.
Then Saturday, I woke up early to help clean the church and after I went to the pool because it was such a beautiful day! Then I had to hurry to get ready for the game and it was so exciting to finally wear my game day shirt (RISE UP!).
Then I made guacamole and used my new Cutco knives. Don't even worry I cut my finger in the first five minutes! I think I must have the Cutco curse, but man they are sweet and SUPER sharp!
The game was kind of stressful the first half, but thank heaven the defense is awesome. BYU WON!
